Cascade Callers & Cuers Assoc
On March 30, 2019, the Emerald Empire Area Council and Cascade Callers and Cuers Association called and cued had the area's benefit dance for Camp Alma, a 103 acre retreat and rehabilitation center for veterans suffering from PTSD and other issues. This is one more way to thank and honor our veterans. Over $1,700 was raised. Representatives from Camp Alma were on hand to share information, answer questions and on stage to receive a check. They were most appreciative. The exciting part was that they watched square and round dancing and decided they just may join us this fall!

Our next scheduled dance is June 29.

Keep on calling and cueing for fun!

Christina Corelli

Secretary, CCCA

Cast A Shadow
We held two dances in March with two squares of dancers attending both. We danced to recorded music to such callers as Darryl Lipscomb and Bronc Wise to name only two. Our fearless leader Fred Beisse always finds good callers willing to share their gifts with us. We are looking forward to having Dan Nordbye call for us once a month while he is here in the area and also we hope to have Kris Jensen from Albuquerque call once or twice in the fall. If you like to dance advanced and are in the area, please come join us

We dance in Hall B at the Emerald Square Dance Center, 2095 Yolanda in Springfield approximately twice a month. Our schedule is erratic so best to check before driving over. For more information please see our schedule and other information on our website at CAS-SC.yolasite.com

Our club dances twice a month on nearly every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month except for holidays or if in conflict with another event such as Mid-Winter Festival. In March we held two fun dances, the first with Jim Hattrick calling and the second with Scott Zinser calling. Jackie Gale is our cuer and can be found cueing for us at all of our dances unless she has another conflict. We love having visitors. You can always expect to have a great time dancing to our wonderful callers, our terrific cuer and our fun dancers. Come dance with us.

We started off March with our St. Patrick’s Dance with a baked potato feed which always goes over well with our dancers and guests. Jim called that night but while we did not have a very good turnout, Jim Hattrick did make it fun as always. Our next dance with Scott Zinser was also not well attended but everyone enjoyed dancing to Scott and with each other. We were happy to see Bill Gale is back on the floor after some much time unable to participate fully. By the time you read this some of our snow birds will be back and we hope to see more squares on the floor.

In May we will be dark the 2nd Friday as we combine nights with the Whirl-A-Ways for our Mexican Fiesta Dance with taco bar. Mike Kious will be calling and Christina Corelli cueing. We always have a good turnout for this dance with two clubs hosting and often have a club or two visiting—who can resist a taco bar! Hope to see you there, Saturday, May 11 at the Emerald Square Dance Center at 2095 Yolanda in Springfield. For more information check our schedule on our website at singletrees.blogspot.com

Cherry City Cloggers continue to clog along faithfully. Our attendance at weekly dances remains strong and we have three very accomplished dancers who are instructing.

We are gearing up for the demo season and will soon have our Demo List confirmed so that part of our weekly sessions will be devoted to polishing these dances. We recently did a demo for Cloverdale Elementary school. This was a fun time for all including the children as a short teach was presented and the children were encouraged to dance with us. We are in hopes that this kind of demo activity will motivate the younger generation to pursue the art of clogging. Georganne

Our dances at Gleneden Beach on March 8 and 9 were a lot of fun, and we were delighted to have several guests join in the weekend activities, including a potluck on Saturday. Spring-time is well underway, with summer just around the corner. We’re looking forward to another great year under the leadership of our new President Terry McCarty and Vice-President Eugene Ivy. Our special Easter Dance was on April 13. Did you notice any Easter bonnets?

We will be finishing up the month of April with another Koast Krash at Yachats Inn with a Hillbilly/HeeHaw theme. If it weren’t for the beautiful Pacific Ocean out the window, you might think that we had been transported to the HeeHaw stage in Nashville or to Appalachia of bygone day. We are expecting ingenious and creative costumes! We appreciate the organizers of this year’s Koast Krash, and are looking forward to the warm welcome and outstanding cooperation from the Yachats Inn management and staff.

It’s not too early to be encouraging friends, family, and co-workers to join us for Mainstream Lessons at Salem Hospital in September, coordinated by this year’s Good Scout and Membership Chair Dave (and Teresa) O’Neill. – details to follow in later OFN issues.

Come dance with us on the first and second Saturdays of each month at Polk County Fairgrounds in Rickreall. Dee and Bert Mackaman

Our Mystery Trip on March 30 was a real "blast". We traveled to the Boring Barn in Boring, Oregon, and visited the Country Cutups. This 100 year old building has been made into a wonderful dance hall. George and Patty Herman were calling/cueing and dancers from Corvallis Squares, Albany Timber Twirlers, Sweet Home Squarenaders and Salem Swinging Stars were on the bus. (See the picture.)

April 6 was our Hippie Dance with Charlotte Jeskey calling and Jackie Gale cueing. Lots of fun costumes! Our Cinco de Mayo dance will be on May 4, and we'll be serving tacos at the break time.

Now it’s the countdown to Strawberry Festival the first week in June. Our activities begin on May 31 with the Trails End dance -- callers and cuers from the floor. There will be a Spaghetti Dinner on Friday night and potluck on Saturday night. We always have a float for the parade on Saturday morning. Than our Saturday Strawberry Festival Dance will feature Dan Nordbye calling and Jackie Gale cueing -- strawberry shortcake served at the break as usual. This fun weekend will include our super Silent Auction, an Experienced Clothing Sale, other prizes, and a Sunday morning breakfast. Don't miss all the fun! See you in a square! Marilyn York

Happy spring to our dancing friends. Hope the better weather agrees with all of you. I like it a whole bunch more than the snow and cold weather.

We are happy to announce that we are switching to a summer schedule in June. We will be dancing from 6:30-8:30 p.m. until the end of August. We will throw in our birthday party in June also.

There will be a guest cuer for the last evening in June so Stephanie and Leonard can attend a cuers clinic at Circe 8 Ranch in Cle Elum. They should learn a lot and come back with all sorts of new things for us to learn and dance. Should be a fun summer.

We have voted for Federation officers and re-elected the current club officers, so we are set for a while again. Always nice to get some business taken care of and then continue with the fun of dancing to favorites afterwards. Marilyn Schmit

Thank you to everyone who attended our dance in March. We had a good time celebrating our late birthday.

Our teams are heavily into practice through April as competition is May 3rd & 4th! We will be at Silverton High School for competition this year. The competition moves back to Washington next year. The Silver Dragons will dance at Senior Level and the Silver Knights at Junior Level. We have two Junior Level Callers, one Pre-Teen Novice Level and one Novice Level caller. We also have one couple dancing Basic Level rounds and one Junior Level cuer. So please come support us - there is a lot to watch. See you at a dance soon. Petrina Buchheit

We’d like to remind you of the Teddy Bear Parade May 11th, 10:00 at 10th & Main in Oregon City. If your club is in the PAC, you’ve probably seen the PAC bear family of mom, dad and baby bear? I’m sure they will be at the parade. You too can come and participate at the parade. Don’t forget to bring a new bear. They will be donated to a very worthy cause.

May 19, we are co-hosting an Alzheimer’s benefit dance at the Oak Grove Community Club. This will be quite a large dance, with basket raffles and baked goods. See our flyer in the “Special Dances” section of this magazine.

June 1st, the Cut-Ups and Hoppers will be in the Starlight Parade. Come on down and watch, or see it on television.

We’ll also have a new council Secretary, Eileen Pettycrew starting at our annual pot-luck picnic June 17th, North Clackamas Park. You’ll be there, right? You are all invited. Come about 6:PM at North Clackamas Park.

We’re going to have another great board starting in June, with President, Gene Neils, V-P, Rainy Evans, Secretary, Patricia Neils and Treasurer, Melissa James. Council Delegates Jim Schira and Mary Theirl are celebrating 14 years of running unopposed. (Is there a dangle for that?) Of course we’ll have our more or less permanent appointed crew of Parker Parkit (valet), Cal Amari (club cook), Pat Pettifogger (legal counsel), Armando Armbuster (club bouncer), Debbie Debit (bookkeeper), Gerry Geranium (club florist) and Prudy Pruner (parking lot arborist). And you’ll still have my helpers and I putting together this news. Come on out any Wednesday night and meet us all.

Buzzin Bees
Greetings from the Buzzin' Bees. We have had a busy couple of months with dancing, visitations and our anniversary dance. We had a fantastic visit from a group from Everett, the Dudes and Dates. They came to us, more than 30 strong as a mystery trip and we greatly enjoyed their fellowship and enthusiastic dancing. We had a Lasagna dinner with them and a big Thank you goes out to Linda Curtis for her organizational skills and to all of the Bees for making it a success. I am writing this before our anniversary dance but I am sure it will be a blast.

We have 2 dances planned for May. We dance on the first and third Saturdays at the Hazel Dell Grange. Pre-rounds /pre plus at 7pm with Mainstream at 7:30. Every third tip is plus. See you on the floor!

Chaps & Petticoats - Link
The Chaps and Petticoats have had a very busy last few months.

We graduated our students, February 17th, and they “roasted” their instructor, Scott Zinser, by dressing him as an Outlaw and putting him in jail, where he called a tip. We initiated our four students, each tip - they danced with balloons (between their legs), bean bags (at top their heads) and then Scott gave them a test … everyone passed!

Thank you to all who attended our “Go Hog Wild” BBQ dinner and dance, March 15th.. We had seven squares+ and approximately 20 dinner only guests. We owe a BIG thank you to our member, Tim Kane; he raised, butchered and barbequed the pig & turkey, then called the dance along with his partner Sue Harrel. Tom Klug, from Central OR, was our Cuer and Deb, his wife, called a MS tip as did Terry Halley. We are blessed for such a contribution to our Club!

The next day, March 16th, Chaps had a square of dancers turn out at River City Dancers. It was a packed floor with Darrell Kalmbach calling/Helms cueing AND we took back our C&P club banner home...yahoo!

It was great to see four squares at the Portland Area Council (PAC) dance on March 29th were Don Hart, a caller retread, was introduced and Lonnie Sycks cued a “Western Theme” (complete with jail). Oh and Beary Potter (traveling mascot) and Bearniece (partner) were presented their diapered “baby” bear...this was a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ and fun dance!

Dancers from the N, S, E and West attended our HIPPIE dance on April 5th - it was well-attended. At break we awarded three (3) costumes prizes: Female was a new dancer, Marlis, of Cut-Ups; Male was Robert Lumsden (Cut-Ups) and dance-Couple prize went to Jim Schira and Mary Theirl...thank you judges, Dan and Parren and the Ickes (from Central OR!

Bachelor and Bachelorettes (B & B’s) 54th Anniversary dance on April 10th was a hoot - Dan Nordbye and Tami Helms were caller/cuer - dancers filled the floor. Former B & B Callers and Cuers were honored and pictures taken.

Chaps and Petticoats will be DARK on May 3rd to support the Pacific NW Teen Sq.Dance Festival (PNTSDF) competitions held at Silverton High School and cheer on our Silverton youth in their Caller, Cuer, Round and Square challenges with other clubs from Canada and Washington. The dancing is MAY 3rd and the competitions occur May 4th - hope you bought your teen badge, for just $2, to get in the door for this event - who knows when the PNTSDF will be in Oregon again.

We hope you get to enjoy the sunshine soon and join us for our next two dances:

Friday, May 17th we’ll honor those who served this country, with Putzler and Pratt as Caller and Cuer, please do join us in our Parade of Flags at this dance.

Friday, June 7th will be Scott Zinser. calling and Dave Cooper, cueing as we just “Let the Fun Begin.”

Happy Feet!

Thanks to all who participated in our annual Barn Sale. The square dance community is such a wonderful group of people to work and play with!

As the weather warms up, we look forward to using our outdoor dance floor. Our Pirate themed play and dance helped pay off the expenses of the outdoor dancing area, so thanks to all who came out and supported it and risked their lives to hang out where pirates are known to lurk.

May will bring our annual Mystery Trip. Young and Robert are cooking up another great experience for us. If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet, call Young and reserve your seat, as the bus takes off on May 11th, whether you are on it or not! We had the privilege of hosting a Mystery Trip dance group from Lebanon on the 5th Saturday in March. What a fun dance that was! Large dances have a higher energy and George Hermann did a great job of calling that one.

In June, we are looking forward to another great dance on Father’s Day. Adam Christman will be calling that for us this year and he is a great caller! That will be on a Sunday, June 16th, from 1-5 PM. Look for the flyer in the OFN.

Dan Nordbye will be doing some high energy mainstream dances this year at the Boring Barn on Monday nights from 7-9 PM. Look for our flyer with the dates for those events.

Looking for some different dance skills? Our club will be offering line dance lessons taught by Lynn Wunische. She will offer them on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings to see what time works out the best. Or maybe we will have two groups going!

Come on out! It is never boring at the Boring Barn!

Happy Hoppers - Link
The Happy Hoppers have definitely been out and about. During the last few weeks of March we had two visitations. Twenty of our members attended the R Square D’s anniversary dance on March 23rd. We had a great time dancing to Craig Abercrombie’s enthusiastic calling and Lonnie Syck’s cueing. The following weekend twenty-two of our members were at the Country Cut Up’s for an energetic fifth Saturday dance called by George Herman and cued by his lovely wife, Patty. And, oh, my! What a great potluck feast that club provided at the end of the dance! In between the two visitations, we took some of our lesson people to the basic level dance at the Milwaukie Community Center. It was an excellent opportunity for the new dancers to experience a square dance and to see the River City Riders when they performed at the end of the dance. On April 7th our members could be found at the benefit dance for Sharon Driscoll, a wonderful lady who is well known throughout the square dance community for her love of dance and her indomitable spirit. The River City Riders deserve special thinks for sponsoring the dance. Finally, we’re also looking forward to a visitation to the Hoedowners at their first dance in April.

An interesting thing about Hoppers is that many of our members belong to multiple clubs. When we’re out dancing, they may be wearing a badge from one of their other clubs or a more “generic” badge with just their name. Nevertheless, they are great supporters of our club as well as the other clubs and activities where they are members. We are grateful to have such enthusiastic dancers as members of our club.

Plans are well under way for our 60th anniversary dance, May 4th. Since the date falls on the fourth of May, some of our members thought it might be clever to have some fun with the name of the month, May, and the number 4. They came up with the theme, “May the Fourth Be with You,” a play on the Star Wars saying, “May the force be with you.” So the dance will have a Star Wars theme. Perhaps it’s a bit funky, but it’s sure to be a lot of fun. We hope to see you there.

In February we had a club visitation to TriSquares MardiGras Dance, and in March, they paid us a return visit. We also had visitations in March from Chaps and Petticoats who came all the way from Aloha, and also a group of dancers from Silver City Squares came for a visit.

River City Dancers have visitations to other clubs every month. If your club is not active in attending visitations, we encourage you to do so. This is a “ win win “ situation for both clubs by increasing revenue , increasing dance attendance, and introducing some dancers to new callers and new locations Come see us. We love having visitors.

Sunday April 7 our River City Riders held a fundraiser dance in our hall for Sharon Driscoll which we supported and attended. We also had our fabulous 50’s dance April 13.

Our dances in May will be our regular dances the second and third Saturday at Milwaukie Community Center 42nd and Jackson in Milwaukie.

The next “Game Night” will be May 10. What a lot of fun we have. Come out and join us. It is a “Hoot.” If you don’t play Mexican Train, there is usually a game of cribbage going on or if there is some other game you would like to play, let us know. We are open to most any table game. We always have a potluck with a theme. The theme for the next “Game Night” is back to the beginning with “Mexican.”

Wayne is back and will be doing Advanced classes and workshops until they head South again in the fall. If he is not able to do a Wednesday, Phil will do his Wednesday, MS/Plus Workshop. Either way, Wednesdays are great fun.

On May 11, the Stars will “Honor Our Mom’s.” Dean Black will call Advanced from 630-730 and MS/Plus after Bob does pre-rounds at 730pm. Should be great time.

The Annual BBQ Bash at Mary Moody’s is scheduled for May 27th. It is always a fun time. After so many high energy events – such as Pear Blossom, Buckeroo Roundup & Boatnik – everyone is running on the auxillary tank. This picnic is an excellent way to “unwind” and catch your breath for the next one – Diamond Lake.

Preparations for Diamond Lake are coming along nicely. Everything seems to be on schedule. Get your ribbons for a great time.

Four years and counting. What a great 4th anniversary dance. Great fun with many of our local clubs coming to support us and square dancing. Adam Christman came over from Spokane to call for us. We have him booked for number 5 as well.

Our regular caller, Jim Hattrick, had a slight setback with some health problems in March and Darrell Kalmbach stepped in to help us with our lessons. So a big thank you shout-out to him. Jim seems unstoppable and was back with us for our regular dance on the 23rd.

On May 11th, Craig Abercrombie will be calling and Julie Stiers will cue for us. On the 25th Jim will be calling our Memorial Day dance. The weather should be nice and we look forward to having two great dances.

While we plan to be dark over the summer, the club will be discussing where we will be visiting instead. So, our club will be out and about. Get your banners ready!

May is the month for installation of officers, the back bone of the club that keeps it functioning. Remember to thank your volunteers, your club would not succeed without them. Our new board is as follows: Sally and Mike Duyck - Presidents; Karen and Ferrous Steinka - Vice Presidents; Dolores Fullmer - Treasurer; Marguerite Morin - Secretary; TVC delegates - Leslie Tallman and John Semm. All of us appreciate these members who step forward and volunteer their time to the club.

Our Plus classes are continuing and the students are doing quite well. We have already welcomed three new members to our club. If you have square dance outfits you no longer want there are new and some old dancers who would love to have them. I was reminded of this when I was asked where to find a silver and a gold petticoat. Take your unwanted outfits to the next trade or sale event. You may find something you want. I really need to get that extra stuff out of my closet!

Find a way to celebrate Holidays in May. You can wear an outfit that reminds you of the day or give flowers to a friend to enjoy. Several clubs have special dances with a May holiday as a theme such as Cinco de Mayo, Mothers Day, or Memorial Day.

Plan ahead to support your local clubs and for some good dancing. The Hayshakers Anniversary Dance is May 17th at the Pacific Grange: TVC/PAC Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s, Oak Grove Community Club, May 19th.

We dance every Monday afternoon, even on holidays except Christmas and New Years. Our callers keep us on our toes each week, always seeming to have some new twist to keep our minds sharp. During lessons our schedule is 12:00 - 1:15 class, then 1:15 - 3:00 pm plus and rounds at the Sunset Presbyterian Church, 14986 NW Cornell Road in Beaverton.

Oh my goodness did you attend the Hoedowner’s Mr. Potato Head Dance on March 9th? I mean Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head actually attended, danced, visited and dined, just a charming couple. The buffet table was heaving with baked potatoes and all the trimmings. Apparently the Potato Heads were not offended as we dined on russets and they are sweet potatoes.

The 16th of March found the Hoedowners holding their annual club meeting in the Aloha Grange dining room. It was a potluck and as usual the food was great. Valley Squares were invited to attend and then Hoedowners went upstairs and held visitation to the Valley Square Dance.

One week later on the 23rd of March, we had our March Madness Dance to celebrate the American tradition of competitive college basketball. Everyone was encouraged to wear their favorite team gear. It was particularly exciting since the Oregon Ducks were still playing. As it often happens now a day, March Madness is not over until April so the final results are still unknown. I hope your bracket was a success. We had a wonderful crowd and thanks to all who joined us. A special shout out to members from the new Oak Hills Square Dance Club.

Looking ahead, on May 11th, just seis dias after de cinco de mayo, we will have our Fiesta Dance featuring a Nacho's & Taco Bar after the dance. On May 25th we do an early observation of Memorial Day with our patriotic themed Red, White & Blue Dance.

The March 30th dance was the first TVC for some of us. We were helping sponsor the dance, as well as supporting our caller, Randy Dibble, and cuer, Jeanine Norden. A number of Valley River Dancers were there supporting Randy and Jeanine, too. There were lots of callers, cuers, and their partners amongst the dancers.

The hall was well-filled with enthusiastic dancers. We so enjoyed seeing people that we hadn't seen for years, as well as all those that we see often, and we always welcome new acquaintances. One friend even told me that he enjoys reading these columns. What a morale booster!

We were impressed with the bounteous pot luck. Afterwards cleaning up took only a short time.

Many little people, big people and all around good people showed up at our St Patrick's dance. There were green swirls and flashes as 4 and 5 squares filled the floor. We have so much fun and are getting quite a crowd of regulars if you haven't been to our dances, you might want to give it a try. Craig and Lonnie always keep the floor full of fun.

On our 66th anniversary celebration at our 4th Saturday dance we had 92 dancers in attendance to celebrate with us. A special thanks to the folks from TVC who encourage dancers to get out to the member anniversary dances as well as our friends up north who are always so good to support us, the Cougar Squares. Happy Hoppers from the south of us along with independents, clubs from the coast, and from the east side of Oregon created a packed floor and double circle rounds. It was fabulous! Jean Turner, a member for 65 years, helped at the door and danced! Our caller, Craig Abercrombie and our Cuer, Lonnie Sykes create such a bubbly atmosphere, all around the room people are laughing and having fun. Thank you, Craig and Lonnie.

Plus dancers! Beginning April 10 through May 22, PLUS WORKSHOP/LESSONS on Wednesday evenings 7 - 9. There will be dancing for everyone. The cost will be $2.50 per person. We hope you will enjoy this opportunity. Thank you Craig.

Our first dance on May 10th is our Fiesta de Mayo dance. Wear your colorful south of the border attire. We might have chips and the dancing will be spicy. How's that for an intriguing invite? Our Second dance in May will fall on Memorial Day weekend so we will be dark. But please, try to make our dances in June when we begin our summer schedule dancing on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

Please remember that our dances are now ending at 9:30pm. 7-8 Plus and advanced rounds, 8-9:30pm Mainstream with rounds. 106 NW 8th, Kelso/Longview intersection on Ocean Beach Hwy, in the hall at the water park. Craig Abercrombie calling and Lonnie Sycks cueing. Our website www.r-square-d.info is a great way to keep track of our club and events or friend us on Facebook.

In March we had an entertaining Mainstream graduation with three students joining our club, adding to some students with previous dancing experience who had joined during lessons earlier. Also we had a great visitation to the River City Dancers in Portland, earning one of our banners back.

In May we are looking forward to the scenic drive out to Boring to visit the Country Cut-Ups where our own Terry Halley will be calling the dance.

Also in May we have two dances scheduled at Tri Squares in Tigard: on Saturday May 11th “Fiesta Time”, and on Friday May 24th “Stars and Stripes” with Terry calling and Sandra Pinion cuing. PreRounds are at 7:30, Plus tip at 7:45, Mainstream 8-10, with 4th tip Plus. Break at 10:00. Please come and visit.

Our dances in March were a blast. One of our TTS couples returned after a somewhat lengthy absence from our dances. They were a little rusty after coming back, but they remembered quite a lot on their return. We also had a number of visitors from the Toe Draggers. A new student from our previous dance returned, and he did very well too. At our 2nd dance in March, we gave another crash course to another visitor couple from out of the area. They did so well! We had a barrel of fun and laughs at these dances.

Our dances in May are on the 8th and on the 22nd.

A reminder: if we have less than a square at any of our dances, we may end the dance early or cancel the dance.

Our club continues to be a fun place where friends gather, have some food and practice moves they want to work on before the weekend dances. Lots of belly laughs to go around. We would love to have you come join us!

See you around in a square.

The Valley River Dancers dance Plus on 2nd Fridays, and Mainstream on 4th Fridays in Newberg at the Chehalem Community Center, located on the corner of 2nd and Howard Streets. We dance ‘A’ on 5th Saturdays at the Woodburn Senior Estates Community Club. Randy Dibble is our Caller. Ken Pratt cues 2nd Friday; Sherri Clark cues 4th Friday. https://www.valleyriverdancers.org

A Cha Cha/Ph III Waltz workshop continues preceding our 2nd Friday dance, led by Ken and Dianne Pratt, beginning at 6:30 pm. This has been a perfect opportunity for us to brush up and polish our round dance technique and style. Come join us for the workshop and then stay for the Plus dance and intermediate rounds.

Ian Craig called our Plus dance in March as Randy Dibble calls in Kennewick annually this weekend. Some of our members and regular attendees followed Randy there to dance, but we still had 2 squares for this dance. Ian had some interesting patter for us.

We had a great time on a club visitation outing to the Columbia River Dancers for their anniversary dance in March. We all enjoyed Adam Christman’s calling, and the Hazel Dell Grange is such a nice hall. Melissa James has visited our club a number of times this past year and we are even more aware now of how far she drives to come dance with us! We are so appreciative of her friendship with our club.

Our March 5th Saturday ‘A’ Dance in Woodburn (March 30th) was dark as our caller, Randy Dibble, called the TVC Spring Fling Dance, and we had a club visitation to the dance in Hillsboro.  There was a good turnout, and this was a fun dance. Randy did an excellent job calling, imho.

We held our 2019-2020 club office elections recently. Our outgoing president, Steve Zimmerman, has worked hard to support the club these past two years. He and his wife Judy have faithfully been to our dance hall whenever the doors are open--dances and lessons--to set up, bringing their now famous brownies and are often the last to leave when all the clean up is finished. On behalf of all the members, we recognize and appreciate Steve for all he's done in support of our club. Dan Damon was elected as the incumbent and will be taking office in May. He has already expressed some fresh ideas, and we look forward to working with Dan to plan more fun for this coming year. The other current officers were re-elected for another year to finish 2 year terms: Vice President: Teija Danskey; Secretary: Josie Rosenbury; Treasurer: Judy Zimmerman; Delegate: Josie Rosenbury. Perrin Damon creates our club flyers.

Our May Mainstream Dance (4th Friday, May 24th) has all the ingredients of a party—It’s on the beginning day of Memorial weekend, it’s also apparently National Salsa Month, so to be festive we will be sure to have plenty of chips and salsa available for open break, we introduce Dan Damon as our new president at this dance, PLUS we have Randy Dibble as our caller, and he’s sure to keep us awake! ha! (You are smiling because you know it's true.)
