It’s hard to believe that it’s July already. Does anyone else think that the calendar skips and rushes by?
There are several Festivals in Oregon this month. Are you planning to go to one or more? It is nice to be able to get out to a Festival, dance with both old and new friends and catch up with those we don’t get to see often. If you haven’t registered for a Festival this summer, you still have time to do so – you won’t regret it.
As we get busy with all of our summer activities, please don’t forget to check in on older club members especially if your club is dark for the summer. Just a call to say “Hello” can mean a lot. Also, check in on your club’s newer dancers – don’t let them think you’ve forgotten about them. Encourage them to get out to a dance somewhere to help them keep skills up (and interest) over the summer.
Hope to see you out and about this summer.

You won’t want to miss this special day of dancing before you start your trek home.
The Silver City Youth will be selling food in the cafeteria starting Thursday evening during the Trails End Dance. Their Menu is posted on Facebook.
We will have a Basket Raffle again this year. We would like to ask Clubs, Councils, and Dancers to donate a basket. The more baskets we have, the more fun we have.

We are still looking for volunteers to help with setting up Thursday morning at 10:00 am and tear down on Saturday after 2:00 pm. If you are available to help, please contact Bill Coen or Lisa Kious.
Weekend ribbons will be available at the door for $45 per adult or $30 per youth. If you are unable to attend the entire weekend, you can purchase daily ribbons at the door. Prices are on the attached Registration Form. RV parking is available at the school for $10 per RV.

Ronald Terrey Noble, 84, of McMinnville, Oregon, passed away on June 5th, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. Born October 14th, 1939, in Aledo, Illinois, Ronald (Ron) was the son of Herbert Gerald Noble Sr. (deceased) and Helen Terrey Noble (deceased), and brother to Nancy H. Hanna, Herbert G. Noble Jr. (deceased), and James A. Noble (deceased). Ron grew up in Rock Island, Illinois, graduating from Rock Island High School. He enjoyed church, baseball, and singing. After high School he attended Moline Community College and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Ron married the love of his life, Mary Kathleen Hanson on June 20, 1959, and moved to Southern California. Graduating with a degree in Chemistry from Cal State Long Beach in 1965, Ronald went to work for North American Aviation and played a vital role in the Apollo Space programs, receiving NASA's Silver Snoopy award for his contributions to flight safety.
Seeking a different environment to raise their children, Ron and Mary moved to Dallas, Oregon in 1974. After a couple of years of farming and working in a lumber mill, Ron went to work for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). In July 1982, Ron became licensed in Oregon as a Professional Civil Engineer and continued working for ODOT and serving as Chairman on several committees for the National Academy of Sciences.
Ron's career spanned 21 years at the Oregon Department of Transportation. After retirement, he and Mary lived in Yuma, AZ, and continued teaching dance before moving to McMinnville, Oregon.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ron was known for his good-natured spirit, his humor, his wit, and his adventurous curiosity. He cherished his marriage to Mary Kathleen Hanson. Together, they traveled the world teaching Round Dance, a choreographed ballroom dance, and started a local dance group in Dallas, Oregon called Rounds R Us. Ronald also had a love for baseball, trains, and music as a member of The Naturalaires quartet.
Ron's life was anchored in his deep love for God, which he expressed through his faith, and love for his family and friends.
Ron's legacy is one of dedication and excellence, leaving behind a loving family: his wife Mary Noble, their five children - Ron (Sue) Noble, Kathi (Brad) Lewis, John (Kristyn) Noble, Jim (Barb) Noble, and Judy (Joel) Badie, along with seventeen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 29th at Praise Church in McMinnville.

We have a short business meeting before our dances. 7:00 is Pre-Rounds and then 7:30 - 9:30 is our square and round dance. The dances are called and cued by members of CCCA. Our next dance is August 31. This is also Christina Corelli's birthday. I will bring cake and ice cream! Please join us!
The next upcoming dance after that is November 30.
Respectfully submitted,
Christina Corelli
We dance in Hall B at the Emerald Square Dance Center at 20th and Yolanda. Please call Fred Beisse if you plan to join us as we do have to cancel at times when we cannot muster a square. You can check our tentative schedule at cas-sd.yolasite.com.
See you in a square or perhaps at Summer Festival.

We had four squares on the floor for mainstream but only two for the plus tips. We ended the evening with a short tip after 10 to make up for the time it took for the sit down break. We had three very happy squares at the end of the evening. Jackie Gale did her always amazing job of cueing with many couples on the floor. I believe we had a nice turnout of Lebanon Square Circlers due to her fine cueing. We missed seeing all the people from Roseburg but at least one dancer came with a partner from south of us. So many happy faces including many from our sister club, the Whirl-A-Ways. If you missed this dance, you probably missed the best dance of the season. Phil Ramey calls to the floor, chooses wonderful music (lots of old-time cowboy tunes with a good beat) and has a nice singing voice. He notices what moves dancers are having trouble with and does a little work shop on that move but doesn’t overdo it. We have quite a few new dancers out a tour dances these days and some who don’t dance all that much so a good work shop doesn’t hurt anyone. I think people appreciated his efforts to help. He’ll be back calling for us so please keep an eye on our schedule.
We dance all summer, and it’s casual as soon as hot weather hits. It’s good to dance here and there so keep up your skill level up so keep us in mind when you need some good dancing and socializing this summer—third and fourth Fridays. There is a possibility we will get our second Friday back and dance second and fourth Fridays this fall. We’ll have to wait and see.

Our board remains the same for the coming dance season. We wish to thank them all for being willing to continue. Our President is David Lajoie, our Vice-President is Kurt Jensen, our Secretary is Cheryl Hagey, our Treasurer is Lorna Mercer and Member-At-Large is Christina Corelli.
One of our members, Cheryl Hagey, had successful neck surgery but suffered a tear in her esophagus. She's progressing nicely but will have to wear the dreaded cone for about 12 weeks. We wish her a very speedy recovery. We can't wait for her to be able to dance again.
Please come and join us from 4 to 6 on Sundays. It’s casual dress always.
Please call our president, David Lajoie at 541-520-7311 to make sure we are, indeed, dancing. We rarely go dark, but it's still best to make sure.
Christina Corelli
This fall we will be dancing on the third Saturdays. Roger Putzler will be calling. We will start at 7:00 with plus and from 7:30 to 10:00 is Mainstream with rounds. Christina Corelli will continue as cuer. We have a number of dancers headed to Camp Sherman for our annual campout.
Christina Corelli
If any of the clubs need some assistance, contact the members at www.ccca-or.org to find the member listing. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

The popular International Butterfly Dance on May 11 was well attended with five squares. There were many colorful dancers as most tried to match the butterflies, even a couple of butterfly wings. Cynthia planned this event with teams competing to see whose butterfly flew the longest distance. Roger, Rachel, and Jaga’s team, much to everyone’s surprise, won. We also learned a lot about butterflies.
Our potluck and membership meeting was held at Jana’s house on May 17. Officers were elected with a sigh of relief since there were no contests and the incumbents volunteered for another term. A big Thank You for their willingness to serve. We also made our plans for our coming year. On May 25, Veterans’ Recognition, with Caller Charlotte Jeskey and Cuer Sandy Harris, met at the First Baptist Church, 125 NW 10th St, Corvallis, 7 to 9:30pm. This is a new location that we will use next year. The veterans were thanked for their service with a little ceremony. Cynthia shared some interesting stories about her family’s service. Since Charlotte is retiring, the club gave her a token of our appreciation for her long career as a caller.
Our Luau Dance, on June 8, was the last dance until September. We met at the Congregational Church, with Bruce Lowther and Judy Russell calling and cueing. Tropical themed entertainment and snacks were provided. There was even an opportunity to learn a little Hula dancing.
Except for May 25, we dance at 4515 West Hills Rd, Corvallis, Congregational Church, 7 to 9:30 pm. The club will be dark from June 10 until September 14. Lessons will begin on Thursday, September 26, with the first lesson free. Lessons are at the Corvallis Community Center, 2601 Tyler Ave., 7 - 8:30 pm. To sign up, call CCC 541-766-6959, or register at the first lesson. For more information: Oregon Federation News (OFN) or call or text 541-752-1282.

The first dance in June was a beach themed dance. Lots of summer wear was worn by the dancers. One part of a tip was hands free, and it was fun to watch them try and succeed with hands behind their backs or in their pockets. A short club board meeting was held prior to the start of the dance.
The first (and only) dance in July is a red, white, and blue theme for Independence Day. Very colorful. We are dark for the second Saturday in July for Summer Festival.
Marilyn
Such a delightful and super fun good time dancing to Jim Steele the caller that makes your feet want to dance, and the great cueing and line dancing with Jackie Gayle! Potluck on Friday night before evening dancing and yummy spaghetti dinner on Saturday night with strawberry shortcake. The silent auction was highly organized and a great success! Hope even more dancers will come join us for June 2025!
Congratulations to Charlotte Jesky retiring from Calling for 35 yrs and .enjoy Life relaxing the way you want!
We will be dark for July 4 and 11. Independence Day and Summer Festival will replace those evenings of fun for us.
We had a 48th birthday party with a total of nine dancers and one guest in attendance. We had chocolate cake, ice cream, door prizes, and split the pot which was donated back to the club.
We will meet sometime in July to decide on fall lessons with hopes of doing something that the youth need for competition. It would be nice to work in conjunction with them to make them better dancers and future members of the club as they age out of the youthful club.
Marilyn
The potluck was overflowing with all kinds of delicious dishes. Family and friends came to see the Graduation Ceremony and watch the dancers strut their stuff.
Friday night's dance had five squares on the floor for Plus, with new graduates flooding the floor. We had six squares on the floor for Mainstream. Ten of the new dancers were in attendance and were welcomed with open arms and open squares. It was a super fun dance. We dance again on June 21.
Our July 5 dance is our Patriotic Dance so wear your Red, white and blue. We will be attending the Summer Festival at Blanchet School July 11-14, and to finish out the month of July, we will dance on July 19. Our hall is air conditioned for your dancing comfort, so please come join us.
Sheila Machado
We will be doing two parades this summer, the Mt. Angel Fourth of July parade and then the Homer Davenport Days parade in August. See you at a dance soon.
Petrina Buchheit
The next PAC dance will be our free introduction to square dancing on Friday, August 30. This is an opportunity for clubs to promote lessons starting in September by inviting prospective dancers to a free dance. Scott Zinser is generously donating his time and talent as our caller for the evening. We will be dancing at the Oak Grove Community Center, 14496 SE Cedar Ave., Oak Grove.
See you on a dance floor!
All summer long, we are privileged to have Tami Helms as our cuer.
Darrell Kalmbach will call on August 7. And Terry Halley will call for our "Hot Summer Nights" dance on August 21.
Remember that we now have air conditioning at the Abernethy Grange. It won't be too hot to dance!
Kathy Polley
Scott Zinser resumed calling for Chaps and Petticoats on June 7 (post-surgery boot and all). Scott was missed, as evidenced by three squares dancing. We were also happy to have Lame Clem (hugs to Marie) as our cuer.
Will you join us “At the Hop?” It will be our last dance of this square dance season on June 21, so roll-up your shirt cuffs, sport your poodle skirts and bobby socks, and let’s cheer on Terry Halley and Sandra Pinion as caller/cuer.
Chaps and Petticoats are dark in July and August, though we will not be idle. There are parades to attend, and we will vacation and visit those clubs that dance throughout the summer. Happy Summer everyone.
Betty Chipps
Don't forget you can play Bingo at the Barn now, on 2nd and 4th Friday nights. Have fun and find out how lucky you are!
Start inviting your friends, family, neighbors to mainstream square dance lessons starting on September 12. You can also invite them out to eat ice cream at the Boring and Dull Day on August 9! The Cut-Ups will be serving ice cream and passing out lesson flyers at Trail’s End Park in Boring.
Bev De La Bruere
We would like to remind you all that we dance all summer, and our hall is air-conditioned for your comfort. We will be dark on July 13 to attend summer festival.
Looking forward to welcoming you to our dances every second and fourth Saturday.
Carol Mendenhall
We’ll be dark in July and August, as we recharge our batteries, enjoy some vacation time, and attend some special dance events. We’re encouraging our members to go out dancing, so if you happen to see them on a dance floor, please help them feel welcome. The Ramblers love visitors, so we would love to welcome any and all dancers from other clubs to our dances when we resume our social dances on September 14, with the stupendous Scott Zinser calling at Oak Grove.
If you are looking for some excitement over the summer, check out the Ramblers in the Portland Pride Parade on Sunday, July 21.
For those looking further ahead, registration continues for our fall square dance festival, Scares and Squares. This year, our three-day event will take place the second weekend in October (corresponding to our regular dance weekend), so no conflict with Seaside Sashay! Our featured callers are Hunter Keller and Eric Henerlau. We’ll have 14 hours of dancing at all levels from Social Square Dance to C-2. We’ll be dancing at the Beaverton Elks Lodge off Canyon Road near OR 217, so this will be a convenient location for all our friends in Washington County, as well as Portland and Vancouver. Check out rosetownramblers.com or the flyer under Special Dances on this site for details and registration materials.
SYIAS!

We had lots of baskets and several containers of Phil's famous salsa to auction off. Thanks to everyone who attended!!
This is our last council dance until January - due to 5th Fridays falling during Labor Day Weekend and the day after Thanksgiving.
Our next meeting is August 6th. On a side note - watch for a council website coming soon. We are in the process of building it and will let everyone know where they can find all of our area dances and information on one website. We are excited to have this new feature to help promote our area.
We had a small but fun, energetic group attend our last dance. We are always grateful for Elaine to come and cue for us. We continue to meet on Wednesday nights at the Karuk Wellness Center. Sometimes we have a square and sometimes we don't, when that happens, we work on 2 couple calls. I think most people would be surprised just how many calls, including Plus that can be done with 2 couples. We have had some setbacks that force us to dance 2 couples on several Wednesday nights.
Please send prayers our way for all of our members who are suffering. We are not planning any more dances until this fall. Then we will offer new dancer sessions. We will post info. as we get closer to fall.
We hope to see you on the dance floor sometime soon. Until then enjoy the summer and all the fun it brings
.
DnS
Come join in on the fun of dancing to Jim, along with Jet Roberts. We will have "A Hoot of A Great Time", along with Rikki Lobato as our featured cuer for Country Fever Dance/Campout weekend in Roseburg at the Buckeroo Barn Oct 4-6, 2024. Mail in your pre-registrations now! You don't want to miss this wonderful weekend!
June 30th we will have a dance party to celebrate our birthday. Jim Steele and Mark McDonald will call and cue. $8 per person at the Pleasant Ridge Community Hall in Redmond from 230-5pm. We hope to see you soon.
On June 22nd, we will celebrate our Fathers with Advanced dancing from 630-730 and alternating MS/Plus 730-930pm with Phil Ramey. There will be no rounds. We hope to see you down in our area dancing!
There are no club anniversaries in July or August. Our most recent anniversary celebration was for the Oak Hills Squares, scheduled for mid-June.
Since the OFN is published on or about the 20th of the month, you still have time to plan on attending the TVC 5th Saturday dance on Saturday, June 29th. Our “Dancing in the Park” is from 7 pm to 9:30 pm at the Oak Hills Community Center, 2400 NW 153rd Ave., Beaverton. This will be an outdoor event similar to the "Dancing Under The Stars" dances of the past. Darrell Kalmbach is the caller and Tami Helms will cue. Remember to bring your lawn chairs! The format for this dance follows the standard TVC format, 15 minutes of upper level rounds, 15 minutes of Plus, then Mainstream, with 3rd tip plus from 7:30 to 9:30.
Please do not park in front of the homes on Oak Hills drive. There is good parking at the Community Center lot, and the school, just to the north.
Ferrous Steinka
We have had three squares plus of dancers reviewing mainstream moves starting at 5 PM and going to 6:30. Right after the mainstream workshop we have had three or more squares of those wanting to learn plus moves. It is not too late to come enjoy learning from Daryl Clendenin.
As I say, these workshops will continue each Sunday through the summer unless the temperature gets to 90 degrees or more. If there is a chance that we will cancel it will be posted on the website or you will be sent an email if you get our messages. If you would like to receive our emails just let us know. Mary Brown sends out emails to all our members and registered guests each week.
Nick Johnson
In July we will celebrate another holiday with our Fourth of July Dance on Monday the 1st. As we have done during past summers, the Eager Beavers are wearing Hawaiian clothing at each of our 2nd Monday dances.
We are fortunate to dance in air-conditioned comfort at the Aloha Grange every Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00, and would love to have you join us!

The club is growing and continues to host many dancers from other clubs, with 2-3
squares every Monday evening. As of this writing, we plan to celebrate our Anniversary on June 17th, welcoming all members of other clubs to join us.
As we have 2 to 3 squares each week, we should be able to dance for most of the summer. We do have air conditioning in the Oak Hills Rec. Gym so we should be comfortable all summer.
We will produce a sign-up sheet for members to indicate if they will be away to make sure we will have enough dancers on any given evening.

Due to lack of air conditioning we are dark for the summer, so we're visiting two places in July, the Sunset Promenaders on the 6th, and the Hoedowners on the 22nd.
We are still looking for two volunteers, to write our monthly newsletter and to plan visitations. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
