Cascade Callers & Cuers Assoc
Our November 30 dance was Christmas-themed as dancers had decorated earlier in the day. There were little trees on the tables and three larger, lighted trees in the main hall--very festive. We had seven callers and three cuers for the evening. Lots of fun!
Abby Hargreaves who danced with Boots and Sandals came by with tons of plastic forks, spoons and knives, paper plates and bowls and clothing to donate. She stayed for a while and got to visit with all of us during the evening. It was so good to see her. She's hoping to be able to get back to dancing. Right now she wears out too soon. She's working on it, and we are hopeful she's able to come back to dancing soon.
The next fifth Saturday is March 29. This will be the Emerald Empire Area's annual benefit dance. The area has asked the callers and cuers of Cascade Callers and Cuers Association to donate their services which we are happy to do.
Respectfully submitted,
Christina Corelli
We met two Sundays in November and had a good time at both sessions. We continue to dance to recorded tips by top-notch callers like Bronc Wise, Darryl Lipscomb, etc. We can only dance if we can get a square so there are times when Fred Beisse has to cancel a session. Be sure to give him a call at 541-683-2522 to make sure we are dancing.
We are planning on dancing Dec. 15 and Dec. 22 and then on Sunday January 12 in Hall B at the Emerald Square Dance Center. On the 4th weekend we hope to join many advanced dancers at the Mid-Winter Festival in Albany.
See you in a square soon,
Happy New Year!

We had two fun but small dances in November, one of which was a remembrance dance for veterans. We had three vets in attendance, one of whom was the caller, Mark Wheeler. Some dancers wore their red, white and blue to honor the vets.
In December we will only have the one dance on Dec. 20 which will be our Christmas Dinner and Dance. We will have our annual, traditional potluck dinner with ham, rice and gravy being cooked by our president Melba Walker. All are welcome to come at 6PM with side dishes and desserts and join in on the fun of sitting down with a crowd of fellow square dancers. Dancing will start at the usual time 7:30 PM with plus for 15 minutes and then 15 minutes of rounds before mainstream from 8 to 10 with every 3rd tip plus. We are delighted that Darrell Kalmbach will be calling and Christina Corelli cueing.
In January on the 10th we will host a new dancer dance for not only Roger’s class but for any new dancers who are fairly far along. We do not know who will be calling or cueing at this time, but it is sure to be a fun dance so please come join us.

We hosted an incredible Thanksgiving potluck in November. Melba Walker provided turkey, dressing and gravy which was all yummy. Thanks Melba! Everyone brought side dishes, other entrees and desserts! Thank you everyone! One of our former members, Kathy Peters, was able to join us. Tim and Cheryl brought their four grandsons who wee a lot of fun. All four boys were well behaved and a joy to be around. Killian, the oldest, square danced. We are very proud of him.
Chris Vanderlinde is still recovering from her fall. She did dance a bit before her body told her it was time to stop. We were thrilled she tried and remain hopeful she’ll recover soon!
Please come and join us from 4 to 6 on Sundays. It’s always casual dress. There is a plus class from 3:00 to 4:00 so there is a little overlap which means we can mingle and meet other dancers and encourage them to stay and dance with us!
Please call our president, David Lajoie at 541-520-7311 to make sure we are, indeed, dancing. We rarely go dark, but it's still best to make sure.

The Mid-Willamette Area Council Fall Festival dance was hosted by the Lebanon Square Circlers on November 30 with seven squares in attendance. There were several callers and cuers in line to call and cue for the dancers. The council clubs provided the snacks. The door prizes were dance passes, Strawberry jewelry and homemade strawberry jam. A youth dancer won the split the pot. A great dance to start the dance season for new dancers and Christmas.

Our new dancer dance was on December 15 at the Salem Square Dance Center. We have two new members, Naomi Kaynor, from Lebanon Square Circlers, and KC (Linda) Curtis. KC calls for Independence Wagon Wheelers and Silver City Squares. They will be able to call at dances when invited by the club caller.
We had a meeting on November 18 when the new members were welcomed. We danced to the new December round cued by Stephanie Lozano. We also had a small discussion on mistakes and admitting them and having fun with them. Our next meeting is in February.

Corvallis Squares dance at The First Baptist Church, 125 NW 10th St., Corvallis, OR, 97330. Dancing begins at 7:00 p.m. with rounds, then mainstream, and finally plus every third tip. We were dark on November 9 for visitation to Sweet Home Veterans’ Day Dance with caller Shaun McKamey in Sweet Home. Despite the distance to Sweet Home, the turnout was excellent.
On November 23, the Friendsgiving Dance was just that. Friends from Lebanon, Sweet Home, and new dancers were there to celebrate with Roger Putzler teaching us some new moves and Jackie Gale cueing. Members outdid themselves with delicious homemade goodies. There was little left at the end.
Here is our agenda for the new year.
January 11, 2025 - New Dancer Dance with caller Bruce Lowther and cuer Judy Russell.
January 25 - Dark for Mid-Winter.
February 8 - Dark for Sweet Home Birthday
February 22 - Birthday Dance, (Alliance) Caller Roger Puzzler and cuer Jackie Gale March 7-8, Coast Trip.

We had two dances in November with a small attendance. We had hoped for a larger attendance when we moved from Polk County Fairgrounds. Still a work in progress, I guess.
Our new dancer dance was December 14, along with a Christmas dance and silent auction. The proceeds from the auction will benefit our charity, Windsor House. The collection of decaf coffee will go to them if they need it, or to Simonka Place in Keizer for their residents.
The mainstream class is going well and progressing on target for a January 19 graduation. A party afterwards is in the planning process. A second class will begin on February 16. Time to recruit and bring students in.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays.
We had our first Gospel Dance on November 29 with four squares all evening. We felt this was great for a dance on the day after Thanksgiving.
Our New Dancer Dance on December 6 was an enormous success. We had nearly one hundred dancers and nine plus squares on the floor. We sold some square dance clothing and celebrated some birthdays as well. It was a super fun night.
Our New Dancers, all nineteen of them, are going to the New Dancer Dances and getting floor time. Graduation will be in January, so they will be well prepared for Mid-Winter Festival.
December 20 is our Christmas Dance. Wear your Red, Green, Gold, and Silver, and come join us.
January 3 will be our New Year Dance. We are planning a Glitz and Glamour Evening, so get dressed up and come ring in the new year with us, dancing and sharing a toast at 9:00 p.m.
Our regular dance will be on January 17. The new dancers will have graduated by then and will have gained more experience for Mid-Winter. After Mid-Winter, we will have a 5th Friday Plus Dance on January 31.
Blessings to all and Happy New Year. See you on the dance floor.

The PAC’s 5th Friday dance on November 29, 2024, was an overwhelming success. We continued our 2024 theme of promoting lessons and encouraging newer dancers by making this dance a new dancer jamboree. We welcomed 80 dancers to the Milwaukie Community Club, and the levels of enthusiasm and dancing ability were extraordinary. Many thanks to our co-hosting club, River City Dancers; caller Darrell Kalmbach; cuer, Tami Helms; and all the angels who supported this dance—including a sizable contingent from the Tualatin Valley Council.
Our next PAC dance comes quickly because we have a 5th Friday in January 2025. The Rosetown Ramblers will be co-hosting at the Oak Grove Community Center, 14496 SE Cedar Ave., in Oak Grove, on Friday, January 31, 2025. The legendary Daryl Clendenin will be calling, and the marvelous Julie Stiers will be cueing. Dancing goes from 7-9:30 pm. See you there!

The Ramblers rounded out 2024 with our Cool Yule dance on December 14. Seattle’s Vance Morrison did a wonderful job calling the dance. Vance is a newer caller, and he brings great energy and enthusiasm to the dance hall. We need to support these newer callers if we want and expect our favorite pastime to continue!
Leading up to the holidays, the Ramblers had a singalong after our regular lesson on Wednesday, December 4. Six of our members—known as the Singing Ramblers—sing in local choruses, and they serenaded us with a beautiful rendition of Merry Everything, a song that encourages all of us to put aside our differences and focus on the hopes and dreams that we share. Then, all 45 of us belted out holiday favorites, from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to the Christmas Waltz. We also enjoyed Christmas cookies and treats. What a wonderful way to build camaraderie.
You’ll definitely want to put January 11 on your calendar for our annual Black and White Ball with the stupendous Stephen Cole calling. This is one of the most popular dances on our dance calendar. A good time is guaranteed! There will be an Advanced dance from 4-6 pm, followed by the Ramblers dance from 7-9:30 at the Oak Grove Community Club. We alternate Mainstream and Plus tips.
Looking ahead, we’ll celebrate our club’s 42nd anniversary on February 8, with the phenomenal Adam Christman calling. Adam will be calling an Advanced dance from 4-6 pm, and then the Ramblers will take the floor from 7-9:30, alternating Mainstream and Plus tips.
On the heels of a successful 2024 event, we are thrilled to announce that our Scares and Squares dance weekend will be back for 2025. Dance dates are October 10-12, 2025, and we will be dancing at the Beaverton Elks Lodge again. We’ve lined up some of the world’s best callers: Vic Ceder, Darren Gallina, and Stephen Cole. We’ll be dancing from 7-10 on Friday night; 9 am to 10 pm on Saturday; and 10 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday. Over the course of the weekend, we will be offering all programs from Social Square Dance all the way through Challenge. Early bird registration is just $75 for the entire weekend. To register, print out the form on our website, rosetownramblers.com.

On November 23, the Stars celebrated and Gave Thanks for all the good things
that have come our way this past year. On December 6, the Stars got together to
have a great time at Janet’s SSD Dance. On the 7th a large group got together and
visited the Charlie’s to help them celebrate their Birthday. What a fantastic time.
Lots of fun and frivolity. On December 14, the Stars celebrated the Holiday
Season with Phil Ramey calling and Ricki Lobato cueing. A good time was had by
all. On December 31, the Stars will ring in the New Year as the ball drops in Times
Square in New York. That is 9pm Pacific Time. There will be a buffet after the ball
drop and more dancing. Phil will be calling and Mark McDonald will be cueing.
On January 11, 2025, the Stars will have their annual Black and White Dance with
Phil calling and Elaine Funk cueing. This is always a fun dance.

The November TVC meeting was held on the 25th at the Aloha Grange. Nineteen attendees were present as President Sally Duyck presided. The Executive board is in the process of updating the ‘Delegates Introduction to TVC’ document in addition to potentially revising the Practices and Procedures document to ensure the two are in alignment. The state directories have been distributed and payment made to the Federation. Per discussion at and after our last TVC meeting, a sign will be displayed at upcoming TVC dances stating, “If you are not a member of USDA, you are not insured at TVC dances, and are dancing at your own risk.”
The next TVC Meeting will be held in person on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at the Hillsboro IOOF Hall in Hillsboro. This will be our annual President’s Potluck and Meeting. The potluck is at 6 p.m., the meeting at 7. This annual meeting is held to honor current and past club Presidents of the TVC clubs. All TVC club Presidents & dancers are invited to join us. At this meeting TVC President Sally Duyck will announce the recipient of the Tualatin Valley Council “Recognition Award”. This award is for outstanding service and special contribution to the square dance community within the TVC geographical area. Please see the flyer below or in the 'Flyer' section of this OFN issue.
Since the OFN is published about the 20th of the month, you still have time to plan on attending the TVC's New Year’s Eve dance at the IOOF Hall, Hillsboro with Daryl Clendenin calling and Jeanine Norden cueing. The format will be: 7:00 to 7:15 p.m., Rounds, 7:15 to 7:30 p.m., Plus, and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Mainstream with every 3rd tip Plus. A ham dinner will be served at 6 p.m., before the dancing. We will have a short break from dancing at 9:00 p.m. to celebrate New Years along with Eastern Time zone.

Happy New year to all. We are starting off the New Year with beginner lessons beginning on Sunday, January 5th. We have put up a big yellow sign with the hope of attracting new local students. Daryl has the plus class doing very well. We are encouraging them to get out and dance. Our usual dances will be on the first and third Friday again.
Four couples from our club and one from the Hoppers spent time in Hawaii recently to help them celebrate their 46th annual festival. As this is written before our New Year's Eve dance, I would encourage you to attend and dance to the calling of Adam Chrisman and Craig Abercrombie. This has become an annual event for us and for them.
We have many of our club members going to Mid-Winter again this year. We will continue with our lessons that Sunday. There will be some callers with accents this year so it should be lots of fun. I look forward to seeing you in a square down in Albany.

As the Hoedowners began to wrap up 2024 our dances got a little bit zany. On November 9th we held our annual Turkey Toss Dance. We had 10 prizes, ranging from a 15 lb. Butterball to a pair of plump Cornish game hens. Dancer lined up, each taking a turn at putting the bean bag in the hole. The results were amazing as most winners were floored that the bag went in the hole at all. We continued to dance to Scott Zinser and Randy Lewis then retired to the dining room and the infamous deviled egg incident. It was both shocking and hilarious all at once.
On the 23rd we held our Pajama Dance. Was everyone brave enough to show up in their jammies? NO! But Sheila the Sheep carried on, posing for photos and promising a good night’s sleep if you counted sheep. Randy Dibble was the caller and was not about to let anyone nap on the floor.
Pat Wolter explained the Aloha Grange’s annual Christmas Family Adoption and how to donate. The Grange and the square dancer who participate have made a big difference every year.
In January we’re looking forward to Wednesday January 11th and our Welcome our New Caller Dance. We’ll be greeting our new club caller Michael Kious and introducing him to our dancing community. Then it's onto Albany and the 2025 Mid-Winter Festival.
See you there.

November’s wind and rain left our trees bare and leaves everywhere. Thankfully we had 2 themed dances and Thanksgiving that kept us busy inside. November 8th, we honored our Veterans with a Veterans Dance. This was our first dance back in Kelso Sr. Center, renamed the Catlin Center. On November 23rd we had a Pie Dance, dessert before our Thanksgiving Day feasts. Apple Pies, Pumpkin pies, Key Lime pie, Sweet Potato Pie and a Chicken Pot Pie. On November 24th, R Square D had 12 dancers visit Hayshakers Dance club in Warrenton, Oregon. A dinner followed with a feast of homemade entrees, and desserts.
Our lessons continue with Mainstream and Plus dancers. Craig Abercrombie is our instructor. Graduation is December 18th. This January we anticipate lessons starting January 8th, 2025! Plus lessons start at 6:30 p.m. followed by Mainstream at 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
In January we only have one dance on the 10th, 2025. It is our Snowflake Frolic. We will for sure have some snow by then. We are DARK, January 25th to allow dancers to attend Mid-Winter Festival in Albany, Oregon.
Our renovated Catlin Center (aka Kelso Sr. Center) looks beautiful. We are so happy to be back in the old, and renovated Catlin Center.

Happy 2025 to all!
There are five Thursdays in January so there will be three Plus dances!! All will be called by Darrell Kalmbach and cued by Tami Helms; January 2nd, 16th and 30th.
January 4th will be a mainstream dance with a Wild West theme. Chili and cornbread will be served. Get out your cowboy hats and boots and join us for a fun time! Darrell will call and Tami will cue. January 18th is a mainstream dance with Darrell and Tami.
Many of our club members will be attending the Mid-Winter festival in Albany at the Linn County Fairgrounds. This is a super fun event ... If you have never gone... We really encourage you to go. Also, there is a "showcase of rounds" on Saturday night. Always my favorite part and normally quite a few couples that dance with us often are highlighted at the event ....you will be impressed!!
Beginning Mainstream classes begin on January 12th. Classes are taught by Darrell Kalmbach at the Hillsboro IOOF hall from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Ask anyone in the club for more information. Please refer anyone wanting to learn to us and come angel with us if you can!
In November, the club Plus dancers had a great celebration of their 10th anniversary. There was a very nice turnout and everyone enjoyed cupcakes and ice cream.
We are thankful for all we have, our wonderful club and all the dancers that come to dance with us!

In November we rocked and rolled at our first dance on the 8th, gobbled up a bunch of pies at the 2nd dance on the 22nd, following it all with many of us going to the Turkey Trot Jamboree at Chaps & Petticoats on the 24th. And we still had room for turkey on Thanksgiving!
In January we dance on Friday the 10th to "Home on the Range" - so saddle up and come on over. Those cowboy boots of yours were made for dancin'! Caller, Terry Halley and cuer, Sandra Pinion, 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. On the 24th we'll be DARK, to dance at the Midwinter Festival.
Lessons resume in January on Sunday afternoons at Kinton Grange, with a "Plus-Refresher Class" at 2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m., and Mainstream (part 2) at 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., both with instructor Terry Halley. Registration is on Sunday the 5th at the grange. Happy New Year to all!

We will not be going dark this winter but plan to dance each Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Tillamook Senior Center weather permitting. There will not be a dance December 24th or December 31st.
The address of the Tillamook Senior Center is 316 Stillwell Avenue, Tillamook. Located on the corner of 4th and Stillwell there is no on site parking and little street parking. The huge Safeway parking lot is directly across the street. Our dances are held weekly on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and we always have food and snacks.
